TITLE: Now I Want

AUTHOR: Demon Faith

SPOILERS: 2x19 – Inferno

RATING: PG-13

SUMMARY: Escaping death can be incredibly hot (Tag to Inferno)

DISCLAIMER: Not mine – good job and all, because I want nothing to do with the mess the franchise is in

NOTES: Finally saw this in English after receiving German versions twice. And I was right – slashy as Hell. :)

This is a little comedic piece, because I need some fluff.

“How very clever, Rodney.”

He sat on the medical examination table, waiting patiently. This sight alone sent Carson into disarray and he upset a tray of bandages.

Clever mind, clever hands, clever lips, clever tongue…

“Oops,” he said weakly, earning him a quirky smile from Rodney. He almost dropped the syringe.

This was becoming ridiculous. Who could have guessed that a mild-mannered, nervous doctor could be so turned on by escaping death? This was becoming a problem, what with the regularity in which death crept up on them these days. How could he work like this?

And Rodney thrived under the pressure of their imminent demise, eyes shining with each new wave of genius and even casting that delighted glance at Carson. It was driving him crazy.

Ever since that time they’d both drunk too much Athosian wine and ended up making out like schoolboys on the couch in Carson’s quarters – how had that even happened? How were they still talking? Did Rodney even remember? – Carson had been plagued with the memories and wanted nothing more than to grab Rodney McKay and…

That was it! With confidence and a cool demeanour, Carson walked over to Rodney, still kitted up from the mission, dirty and tired. He’d never looked more beautiful.

“Okay, Rodney, let’s take you to my office.”

If Rodney was surprised, he didn’t show it, just followed Carson, probably too tired to question.

Carson kissed him.

It was sudden and fast, urgent and desperate, a celebration of life and that thrilling escape from death.

And Rodney kissed him back.

There was calm amidst the storm and happiness bubbled over everything, casting the world in a pinkish light. With fervour and passion, Carson pushed Rodney hard against the wall.

Crack.

Everything stopped. Rodney scrunched his eyes shut and Carson held his breath. Rodney slowly moved forward and there was a distinct rattle from…the laptop bag still strapped to his back.

“Radek will kill me,” Rodney said softly. Carson nodded mutely.

They both went back to work, faces red.

He knew he shouldn’t be tapping into the security cameras but he was morbidly fascinated with what would happen next. Rodney skirted into view, holding out the wrecked machine like a sacrifice and Radek’s eyes widened in horror.

“What did you do?” he exclaimed and then started swearing in Czech, all but ignoring Rodney.

“I…dropped it.”

“You dropped it?” Radek said flatly. Rodney nodded. Radek sighed.

“We will rescue the data and throw it away. You can be so clumsy, Rodney.”

“I know.”

Radek and Carson both started then. Rodney was being contrite and meek – Radek would guess something was up very soon.

“Cheer up, Rodney – it was an accident, they happen. I will see you later.”

Carson breathed a sigh of relief. They were in the clear.

He arrived home to discover Rodney standing in the middle of his quarters. He turned around slowly, showing off his well-fitting clothes.

“No laptops, no gadgets, no stray ZPMs. Now, where were we?”

Carson smiled. It was good to survive.
