I have long been a fan of original characters in fandom - you may be able to tell by their conspicuous number in my fics. I think that the best OCs deserve recognition, and this is my page in which I hope to do just that.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD OC

Developed personality

A well-rounded character is essential. Any OC worth their salt will have opinions and reasons for them, rational or not. They'll also have very real emotions, and an author who can express them and express them well should be highly praised

Distinctive voice

Dialogue is, for me, one of the highlights of well-written fic. An OC should have a voice that the reader can hear, just like any other character, and vocabulary and style can make or break an OC

Consistent Characterisation

The temptation with an OC is to believe that because you created the character, you can make them act any way you want. However, it often leaves the reader confused. A good OC stays within character, but with room for adaptation and development

Flaws and Imperfections

No one likes a perfect character. There is no such thing in reality, so it makes the entire story seem fake and forced. OCs need tempers, bad habits and issues if they're going to be believable
